WHERE I STAND

Working together, we can build a stronger, more accessible Sweetwater County for every family.

As your next Sweetwater County Commissioner, my goal is to foster a collaborative, transparent government that works for you. While commissioners do not write state laws or manage school curriculums, we serve as the vital stewards of our community. We manage the county budget, maintain public infrastructure, zone land, and oversee our shared facilities.

To build a sustainable future, we must tackle our financial challenges together. In the 2026 budget, our county faced a $20,000,000 shortfall, requiring us to draw from our hard-earned reserves to cover expenditures. We must bridge this gap constructively. It is our shared ethical and moral responsibility to leave our children with a better community than we received. By partnering with county departments and residents, we will conservatively hold our county to high standards, balance our books, and move Sweetwater out of the red.

Here is how we can collaborate to build a stronger Sweetwater County:

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

I will be a partner with county departments to implement zero-based budgeting, ensuring every dollar is justified and maximized annually. We must work together to audit capital expenses, prioritizing vital structural repairs on existing assets before building new projects. There also has to be community transparency. I will host quarterly, livestreamed budget workshops so residents can look at the numbers with us and see exactly where revenue is assigned.

RESPONSIBLE ECONOMIC GROWTH

I am pro-growth. But it has to be done responsibly. I propose to update the Sweetwater County land-use plan to clear regulatory hurdles, inviting industrial, manufacturing, and energy partners to grow our economy. Further, we must align road and bridge funds to systematically improve transport corridors, linking local businesses safely to major highways. Lastly, transition the planning and zoning office to a fully digital, fast-tracked permitting system to support local entrepreneurs.

YOUTH, EDUCATION, AND ADA ACCOMODATIONS

I will team up with local advocacy groups to evaluate the Courthouse, libraries, and events complexes to eliminate physical barriers. I will also partner closely with the County Clerk to guarantee every physical polling station is fully equipped and welcoming for voters with disabilities. We also must have dedicated recreation funds to install adaptive, sensory-friendly playground equipment so every child can play safely in our county parks.

We need safe transit corridors. I will prioritize road maintenance and safety features around rural school bus routes to protect our students and drivers. I will work to form resource-sharing agreements between county recreation spaces and school districts to maximize utility without duplicating taxpayer costs.

Lastly, I will strive to unite our economic development boards with local community colleges to train our workforce for incoming, high-paying industries.
