WHO IS WALTER?

Walter Majko is a proud 36-year resident of Wyoming...born, raised, and rooted right here in Rock Springs. He completed his education locally and went on to Western Wyoming Community College, where he focused on industrial and oil and gas safety training. At just 18 years old, Walter earned his CDL through Excel Driving School, and he has been working ever since.

Walter is a devoted father of five: two daughters and three sons. One of his sons is non-verbal and wheelchair-bound, and that experience has shaped Walter in ways that go far beyond politics. It has opened his eyes and his heart to the challenges and realities that too many families face every single day, challenges that most people never stop to notice. Walter notices. Walter cares.

An avid outdoorsman through and through, Walter lives the Wyoming lifestyle - hunting, fishing, trail riding, and farming. His career in oil and gas transportation has taken him across this great state, into the remote corners and wide-open stretches that most people will never see. That work has taken him to other states as well, broadening his perspective while always bringing him back home.

Today, Walter serves as field supervisor and dispatcher for a locally owned trucking company, managing a crew of six to twelve employees while simultaneously meeting the demands of multiple customers. He is responsible for everything from customer satisfaction, driver safety and mental wellness, to DOT equipment compliance, and overhead cost management. He does not just oversee the operation; he owns every decision, every outcome, and every responsibility that comes with it.

Walter started eighteen years ago as the new guy fresh out of school. Every year since has been a masterclass in leadership, accountability, and problem-solving. He is still learning, still sharpening, and still showing up. Those who work alongside him know he runs a tight ship. He has been called a drill sergeant more than once, and he wears that with pride. Real leadership is not always comfortable. It requires thick skin, steady conviction, and the backbone to stand firm when the easy road isn't the right one. Walter has done exactly that, day in and day out.

That is precisely why Walter Majko is ready to serve as Sweetwater County Commissioner.

Walter sees the real issues facing this community, and he is ready to get to work. From the lack of mental health resources to the strain of state budget cuts and inflation, from private property rights to the glaring shortage of ADA-accessible facilities, parks, and events, Walter is bringing fresh eyes backed by real-world experience. He is committed to supporting the Child Development Center through local funding solutions, and to restructuring special education so that every child is met where they are, not where a one-size-fits-all system expects them to be.

Our children are our future, every single one of them, regardless of ability or background. Walter Majko believes this county owes it to the next generation to leave them something worth inheriting — stronger schools, better resources, and a community built to last.

Walter is not a politician. He is one of you. And he is ready to fight for every family in Sweetwater County.
